Origami

Hello there! I heard you were checking out some origami! This page is a gallery of unit origami models. If you don't know what unit origami is, it's basically 3D origami models which are made by making a number of individual units (generally around 30 - 60 pieces) and assembling them together. Each of these has a tutorial in the description, so check them out if you'd like to learn how to make it!

30 Piece Origami Spiky Ball

This is a modular origami model made out of 30 individual square pieces of paper. Post-it notes work very well, just keep the sticky side face up when folding. If you have a paper that has color on both sides, keep the side with the color you want showing face down when starting. For more instructions, check out this video.

24 Piece Origami Ball

This is a modular origami model made out of 24 individual square pieces of paper. Post-it notes will work okay, as long as your folding is neat and crisp with the sticky side down, although assembly may be more challenging. If you have a paper that has color on both sides, keep the side with the color you want showing facing up when starting. For more instructions, check out this video.

12 Piece Origami Chainable Cube

This is a modular origami model made out of 12 individual square pieces of paper per model. Post-it notes work okay, just keep the sticky side face up, and parallel to the first fold when starting. If you have a paper that has color on both sides, keep the side with the color you want showing face up when starting. For further instructions, check out this video.

30 Piece Origami Hollow Dodecahedron

This is a modular origami model made out of 30 individual square pieces of paper per model. Post-it notes work very well, keep the sticky side face up, and parallel to the first fold when starting. If you have a paper that has color on both sides, keep the side with the color you want showing face down when starting. For further instructions, check out this video. You can also fold the variation (left) if you have a paper with two colors. This is also included in the video mentioned above.

30 Piece Hollow Origami Ball

This is a modular origami model made out of 30 individual HALF square pieces of paper per model. Post-it notes work okay, just make sure to split the paper so that both halves have part of the sticky area. Keep the sticky side facing up when starting. If you have a paper that has color on both sides, keep the side with the color you want showing face down when starting. For further instructions, check out this video. This is essentially a variation of the first model displayed in this gallery.

60 Piece Hollow 12 Star Origami Ball

This is a modular origami model made out of 60 individual HALF square pieces of paper per model. Halved post-it notes work very well. Keep the sticky side facing up when starting. If you have a paper that has color on both sides, keep the side with the color you want showing face down when starting. (I currently do not have the video for this model uploaded yet.) You can build larger or smaller sized balls with the same unit piece, but the video only features the 60 piece model ( left ).

30 Piece Pointy Hollow Origami Ball

This is a modular origami model made out of 30 individual square pieces of paper per model. Post-it notes work very well. Keep the sticky side facing down when starting. If you have a paper that has color on both sides, keep the side with the color you want showing face up when starting. This model is actually pretty similar in concept to the Hollow Dodecahedron model. For further instructions, check out my youtube video here.
